Principal Cybersecurity Engineer ( Cloud Security )

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Principal Cybersecurity Engineer specializing in Cloud Security to join Discover Financial Services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive cybersecurity engineering solutions, design secure systems, analyze security threats, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. As a key member of the team, you will provide strategic direction, leadership, and subject matter expertise in cybersecurity technologies while building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal advisor to upper management on cybersecurity matters.
• Operate cloud security products and analyze security events to identify potential threats.
• Ensure cybersecurity architecture aligns with organizational objectives and maintains a competitive edge.
• Lead the Cybersecurity team, define the strategic direction, and provide subject matter expertise.
• Create and maintain the Cybersecurity technology roadmap ensuring compliance with audit and legal requirements.
• Research and integrate new cybersecurity solutions and apply security architecture principles.
• Oversee project implementation and successful solution delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability in scripting, coding, and automation (e.g., Python, shell scripting).
• Knowledge of Cloud architecture, securing cloud communications (AWS, GCP), Restful Services, AWS services, and OpenShift platform.
• Experience with access control systems, PKI, multi-factor authentication, and entitlements management.
