Job Description:
We are currently hiring Material Handlers for warehouse operations, including forklift operations. As a Material Handler at Slumberland Furniture, you will be responsible for efficient merchandise movement, ensuring inventory accuracy, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Primary Objective & Scope of Position:
This position involves performing tasks related to storing, moving, and distributing merchandise. Additionally, providing guidance and training to other employees is expected.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
Merchandise Movement
- Optimize merchandise storage for space efficiency.
- Handle merchandise movement to and from the show floor.
- Utilize the point of sale (POS) system to manage inventory flow.
- Ensure accuracy in customer orders and system records.
- Inspect, unpack, assemble, and wrap outgoing merchandise.
Training
Lead by example and provide training to other team members.
Customer Service
Professional communication with customers, colleagues, and vendors; maintain inventory accuracy.
Other
Adhere to safety guidelines, practice lean principles, and assist in grounds and building maintenance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (or currently pursuing).
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of tools, hardware components, and product assembly.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic computer knowledge.
