Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer II - Sensor Test and Evaluation to join the EarthScope Consortium team at our EPIC facility in Socorro, New Mexico. As part of the Instrumentation - Sensor Test and Evaluation department, the Engineer II will be responsible for managing and implementing field projects related to geophysical instruments and networks. This role involves conducting field operations at various national and international locations, collaborating with team members, proposing new technologies, and ensuring project documentation meets organizational standards. The Engineer II will also participate in collaborative projects within EarthScope and build relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Implement geophysical projects and assist with multiple projects.
  • Identify and solve technical issues related to geophysical sensors, hardware, and software.
  • Participate in the design and testing of new systems.
  • Evaluate instrument design and data to improve systems.
  • Document activities and metadata using established protocols.
  • Develop technical reports for review.
  • Build relationships with community members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or geosciences.
  • 3+ years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks.
  • Familiarity with data quality analysis software is a plus.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of geophysical sensors and instruments.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Environment

This role involves frequent travel and fieldwork in various conditions. Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 75 pounds over uneven terrain. Specialized equipment and travel to remote locations are part of the job responsibilities.

Compensation

Salary Range: $74,400 - $92,900 per year
