Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer II specializing in Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to join our team at EarthScope Consortium's EPIC facility in Socorro, New Mexico. As an Engineer II, you will manage and implement field projects involving geophysical instruments and networks across the United States and international locations. Your role will include arranging logistics, participating in field operations, contributing to the design and testing of new systems, and ensuring the documentation of project activities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage geophysical projects of varying complexity.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to geophysical sensor hardware, software, and data communication.
  • Evaluate instrument design and data/metadata to enhance systems.
  • Develop technical reports and documentation for projects.
  • Collaborate with other EarthScope departments on projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or geosciences.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's degree holders, or 1 year for Master's degree holders.
  • Experience with fiber optics distributed sensing applications and signal processing.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions and travel as required.
