Job Description

OnPoint Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at Rose Pediatrics. Our physician-led network is committed to expanding access to quality healthcare in an effective and affordable manner. As a back-office Medical Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting healthcare providers during patient examination and treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes patient intake and prepares them for medical visits by obtaining medical history and verifying information.
  • Documents accurate vital signs and populates electronic medical records.
  • Assists healthcare providers during examinations and treatments, performs point-of-care tests, and maintains supplies in storage areas and exam rooms.
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner, attentive, cooperative, and respectful with all patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Responsible for pre-visit planning and maintaining all required checks and logs.
  • Backs up front office when needed, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with vendors supporting the practice and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited healthcare program, i.e., Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT, or equivalent work experience.
  • Maintain certifications per state guidelines and possess a current BLS card.
  • Strong computer skills required, experience with EMR preferred, and some Medical Assistant experience required.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics medical setting.
  • Experience with the Athenahealth practice management system.

Job Elements and Working Conditions

  • Job involves standing, using hands, reaching, talking, and occasionally walking, sitting, and lifting/moving objects. Specific vision abilities are required.
